This is a developing story, but here’s a brief overview of how things have unfolded so far…

*Sam Altman was ousted as CEO on Friday

*Board members appeared to be concerned Open AI was moving too fast on the business side

*Greg Brockman quits as President in protest

*Open AI’s venture backers sought to reinstate Altman as CEO

*Instead, the board picked Emmett Shear (formerly of Twitch) as interim CEO

*On Sunday night, Microsoft hired Altman and Brockman to lead an internal AI team

* Some Open AI investors were so concerned they consider writing off their entire investment

* 700+ staff at Open AI have threatened to quit and join Microsoft and they’ve demanded the board resign

*Co-founder and board member Ilya Sutskever expresses regret for board’s actions

*Meanwhile, some Open AI investors are continuing to try and bring Altman back

*Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella spoke to the media on Monday and said he would be ok if Altman either stayed at Microsoft or returned to Open AI

*Microsoft’s stock has been soaring and the company’s market value has risen by $1 trillion since it announced a $10 billion investment in OpenAI January
